I'll waver back and forth about menus and recipes until the last minute.

I like the idea of deconstructing something, maybe with apples, though. It's still all very up in the air!

And I'd be happy to share the pecan pie recipe. It's a tried and true favorite in our family.Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08207592311612331678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7213240224455455603.post-73359046942599426382010-10-12T13:58:41.901-04:002010-10-12T13:58:41.901-04:00this blog is probably meant for your family, but I...this blog is probably meant for your family, but I have no shame. I like baking.

anyway, it seems like you don't really have a shortage of ideas for recipes. maybe try deconstructing something? like some sort of pumpkin mousse or custard complimented with some sort of cookie (gingersnap, butter cookie) to be the "crust". or something like that for any dessert.

I wouldn't be afraid of the brioche thing, that said, I still haven't bothered making actual sourdough - too lazy to feed and water it. direct method takes enough time already.

are you allowed to share the pecan pie recipe with no corn syrup ? I would like to make such a thing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7213240224455455603.post-9274053241719975172010-10-07T21:57:13.045-04:002010-10-07T21:57:13.045-04:00agree about the pumpkin ice cream, but i do love r...agree about the pumpkin ice cream, but i do love run raisin ice cream too! i'm hoping to try ina's pumpkin roll-i'm just a cake-cake person. am sure pecan pie (steve's favorite) will be on our menu, and i'm debating between homemade applesauce and apple crumble.Lydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07582941768111781554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7213240224455455603.post-74855269451714573212010-10-07T09:40:08.507-04:002010-10-07T09:40:08.507-04:00Mom- six for sure for dessert? I'm liking the sound of cranberry/nut combination more and more. You said your crust wasn't gibgery enough. What kind of gingersnaps did you use? Were there any nuts or spices in the crust, too?Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08207592311612331678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7213240224455455603.post-25295582678817633732010-10-07T05:36:24.003-04:002010-10-07T05:36:24.003-04:00still laughing over your commentary on the past fe...still laughing over your commentary on the past few thanksgivings. (wonder what we'll call this one?) btw - I think we're confirmed for at least 6 for dessert. what about pumpkin ice cream? and I think a fall fruit tart would be amazing.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07047968915708927082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7213240224455455603.post-2718802296113815052010-10-07T00:10:28.936-04:002010-10-07T00:10:28.936-04:00So many yummy choices! Last year I made a pumpkin cheesecake with a gingersnap crust but the crust wasn't gingery enough.

If you don't want to make the apples into a tart, you could make a galette.

What about a cranberry pecan pie - you could combine two desserts into one! Here's a recipe from a friend's blog: http://caroleknits.net/2007/11/21/cranberry-pecan-pie/ This one does call for corn syrup but maybe you could use your recipe and add the cranberries? By the way, is that pecan pie a recipe you can share?

I'll keep a look out for new, exciting dessert recipes. :)Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14388262492281947053noreply@blogger.com
